SWS: Six out of 10 Filipinos, favor 1-year Boracay shutdown for rehab

A recent survey done by pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS) revealed that more than six out of ten Filipinos support to shutdown Boracay for one year for rehabilitation.

Results showed that 64 percent of Filipinos believe that 6-month shutdown should be extended for up to one year.

Out of the survey respondents, 38 percent said they “strongly” agree, and 26 percent “somewhat” agree, with a year-long closure.

Ten percent “somewhat” disagree with the prospect, and 10 percent “strongly” disagree to extend the six-month closure of the famous island resort for full rehabilitation.

The survey which was conducted from March 23 to 27 this year, with 1,200 adults nationwide, was in response to the recommendations of the Departments of Environment and Natural Resources, Interior and Local Government, and Tourism to close the island for a year.
