NATANGGAP ng Pilipinas ang kabuuang 2,279,160 na dosis ng mga bakunang Pfizer-BioNTech laban sa Covid-19 kahapon, ang pinakamalaking padala ng mga American-made jabs sa pamamagitan ng COVAX Facility.
Ayon kay Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr., nakumpleto ang inspeksyon at ang logistics ng DHL at nagbibigay ng go-signal para sa pamamahagi at kaagad na mai-deploy ng gobyerno ang mga bakuna sa mga lugar na may naaangkop na cold storage facility.
Humigit kumulang na 1.9 milyong dosis ang naihatid sa Maynila, habang ang bawat 210,600 ay inilalaan sa rehiyon ng Cebu at Davao.
Sa Luzon, ang pinakabagong donasyon ay halos mapupunta sa Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas, Baguio City, at iba pang mga lugar na may “third-party solutions” para sa pag-imbak ng mga jabs na natanggap ng Pilipinas.
“So we advise LGUs to acquire a third-party providers so that all the warehouses are equipped with the ultra-low cold chain solution. So we limit only those areas that the electricity is stable. And at the same time considering that it is rainy season, we are making sure that no vaccine will gonna be wasted. So that’s why the limitations that we have with Pfizer is very sensitive -80 degrees, we will only deploy it on areas that we have stable cold chain solution,” ani Galvez.
Tiniyak naman ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na mahigpit na susundin ng gobyerno ang utos ng COVAX na unahin ang mga medical front liner, mga senior citizen, ang may comorbidities, at ang indigent population.
“Part of the COVAX policy in the allocation is A1, A2, A3, and A5, the indigent sector. We will follow this prioritization framework.”
Ipinahayag naman ng World Health Organization (WHO) na isang malaking hamon ngayon ang global supply ng bakuna kontra COVID-19 kung saan kinikilala nila ang pagsunod ng Pilipinas sa polisiya sa priotization ng bakuna.
“The global supply is a huge challenge, so this is a recognition that the Philippines is following the prioritization and trying to reduce the effect of the pandemic using the vaccines as an additional tool. We salute the Philippines for this achievement,” ayon naman kay WHO Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe.
Ayon pa kay Dr. Abeyasinghe ang bansa ay “on the correct path” dahil naitala ang 6.3 milyong katao ang nakatanggap ng kanilang unang dosis, habang 1.7 milyon ang nakumpleto ang kanilang ikalawang pag-shot.
“On behalf of the WHO here, the UNICEF, and the UN team, we are very happy with the progress that we’re seeing on the ground the acceleration of vaccination. We remain committed to facilitating the delivery of COVAX vaccines,” dagdag ni Abeyasinghe.
Kasama naman ng mga government officials sina German Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel at US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires John Law na sumalubong sa COVAX vaccines sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Huwebes ng gabi.
Ayon kay Law, ang Maynila ang isa sa makatatanggap sa Washington’s vaccine donation sa pamamagitan ng COVAX Facility.
“The exact allocation is not yet determined but we do know that the Philippines is going to be included in that initial tranche. Of the 80 million vaccines, about 75 percent will be distributed to COVAX,” ani Law.
