THE “mañanita” made for NCRPO Chief PMGen. Debold Sinas’ birthday has garnered left and right criticism.
This is because despite provisions restricting mass gathering by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Accordingly, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Archie Gamboa ordered the mass gathering to be investigated.
Sinas’ birthday party can be found on the official Facebook page of the PNP-NCRPO and although with face masks, it seems that social distancing has not followed.
Sinas immediately apologized for the incident, saying he had inadvertently violated the quarantine protocols.
“I apologize for what transpired during my birthday that caused anxiety to the public,” Sinas said.
But Sinas insists that some of the photos that went viral have been edited out from old events.
The official clarified that he was just very happy with the “mañanita” led by his officers.
But he insisted that they comply with the protocols set out in this time there is a COVID-19 threat.
Eventually, Gamboa said their range is not exempted from adhering to quarantine protocols, such as the ban on the mass gathering.
