Metro Manila council says ‘barangay lockdown scheme’ can help flatten COVID-19 pandemic

THE Metro Manila council of the National Capital Region is optimistic that a ‘barangay lockdown scheme’   could help curb the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.

In an exclusive interview with the SMNI News team, Parañaque Mayor and Metro Manila Council President Edwin Olivarez said that the Inter-Agency Task Force or IATF should study their suggestion.

According to Olivarez, through the said scheme only a specific area needs to be on lockdown and undergo the expanded targeted COVID-19 testing.

In fact, the city will study the result of the calibrated lockdown they implemented in Barangay Baclaran which recorded a higher number of COVID-19 cases.

Olivarez stressed that Barangay Baclaran is just one of the barangays in Parañaque with high COVID-19 cases.

The Metro Manila Council is hoping that the IATF will study on the suggested barangay lockdown scheme.
