NATAPOS na ng Filipino-American actress na si Giselle Toengi o mas kilala natin sa tawag na G Toengi ang kanyang graduate studies o master’s degree sa Antioch University sa California.
Sinimulan ni Giselle ang kanyang non-profit management course noong 2019 ngunit dahil sa pandemya, nailipat at ginawa itong online noong March 2020.
Ayon kay Giselle, ang non-profit management ay parang tulad din ng MBA o Masters in Business na dinagdagan lang ng non-government organization social good structure.
“I thought of non-profit management because it is similar to attaining an MBA (Master’s in Business), but adding the NGO [non-government organization] social good structure,” isiniwalat niya sa isang panayam.
Dagdag pa ng aktres, malaking tulong ang kanyang pinag-aralan dahil na-apply niya ito sa kanyang papel sa Fil-Am arts bilang programming director ng arts and culture nonprofit na presenters ng taunang festival of Philippine Arts and Culture sa California.
“Also, I had a direct application to my work as I was also serving at the time as the programming director of the arts and culture nonprofit, FilAm Arts, founded in Los Angeles in 1991. They are the presenters of the annual Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC),” bahagi ng aktres.
“Being in graduate school truly deepened my understanding of programming logic models and gave me the necessary language and tools to evaluate the impact of the work that I am passionate about,” sabi niya.
“As a charitable organization, it is our mission to advocate for platforms and opportunities for the Fil-Am artist community and this really resonates with my professional goals, especially as diversity, equity and cultural inclusion becomes top of mind for philanthropic funders.”
Umalis ng Pilipinas si Giselle noong early 2000 para manirahan sa New York City kung saan ito nag-aral at nakakuha ng Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Studies sa University of California. Doon na rin nag-asawa si Giselle at nagkaroon ng dalawang anak.
