Yemen declares state of emergency in City of Socotra

After being lashed by a tropical storm authorities in Yemen have declared a state of emergency in the Island of Socotra.

As of press time, almost 20 people have been declared missing after the storm flooded several villages and capsized several boats in the island.

With this, government Spokesperson Rajeh Badi, Socotra requires urgent aid to help people that are stranded in their villages especially those who reside in the mountains.

He also appealed to a Saudi-led military coalition and international organizations to provide assistance in the island.

Meantime, the storm is expected to hit Southern Yemen and the coast of neighboring Oman on Thursday.
