Following the recent statements of United States President Donald Trump saying that there was a “very substantial chance” that the North Korea– US Summit could be delayed, North Korea shot back threatening the US of tasting an appalling tragedy.
North Korea’s vice foreign minsiter Choe Sun-Hui in a statement stressed that the two countries could meet in a nuclear showdown if the summit which is planned to take place in Singapore on June 12 will be cancelled.
Choe Son-Hui, North Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister
“Whether the US will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision … of the US, we will neither beg the US for dialogue nor take the trouble to persuade them if they do not want to sit together with us.”
Meantime, preparations for the much-awaited summit which is to occur for the first time in history after several decades are underway.
US officials are expected to travel to Singapore this weekend to negotiate with the North Koreans on logistical and agenda items.
In relation to the event, the United Nations Security Council lifted the travel ban for North Korean officials who will also attend the said summit.
It can be recalled that UN sanctions blacklisted 80 North Korean individuals and 7 entities with global travel ban and assets freeze.
